Andrew Basher – Principal

Kia Ora,
My name is Andrew Basher, I am the Principal of Buller High School having taken over the role term 2 in 2011. Prior to that I had been the Deputy Principal and arrived at the school in 2002 as the Assistant Principal. I am committed to providing the best possible start for the adults of tomorrow in a safe and caring environment. We are aware of the expectation of our community and are constantly striving to improve what we do to support our students. I am proud of what we have achieved and look forward to our learning journey in the future.

Bryan Forsyth – Deputy Principal

Kia Ora,
My name is Bryan Forsyth and I am Deputy Principal of Buller High School. I began teaching at Buller High School as an assistant teacher of Technology and Graphics in February 1987. Prior to my appointment to Senior Management in 2007 I held various roles in the school such as Head of Department, Dean and Head of Sports. In 2007 I was appointed acting Assistant Principal then appointed permanently to that role later that year. In 2011 I was appointed as Deputy Principal when Andrew Basher gained the position of Principal. I am very proud of the Buller, the school and the community and enjoy calling this district home.

Alison Cleary – Assistant Principal

Kia Ora,
Ko Alison Cleary toku ingoa. Ko Tumuaki Tuatoru o te kura tuarua o Kawatiri

My name is Alison Cleary and I am Assistant Principal here at Buller High School. I began here in Term 4, 2022, so I am going through a lot of ‘firsts’ – first Sports’ Day; first Year 9 cohort; first meet the parents evening…

Prior to this I was Deputy Principal at Rangiora High School in North Canterbury – a school whose Year 9 cohort was more than the number of our entire school. I am certainly enjoying the size of the school and I feel I know many of the students already. Most of my teaching before moving to North Canterbury was in Tāmaki – makaura and Counties Manukau.

I look forward to getting to know the school and community over the next few years.

Corrina Batt – Business Manager

I am the School’s Business Manager and a member of Senior Management Team. I work in partnership with the Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal to achieve the best possible outcomes for the students and staff at our school. I work behind the team and am responsible for providing strategic and operational support for finance, property, human resources, administration services, communication and compliance including health and safety, risk management and personnel matters.

Working in our School is exciting, demanding and challenging, but the reward of striving to achieve a modern, fully resourced positive and safe environment to support the learning experience of our students is a wonderful incentive.
